Seven Kings Hotel, Ilford

Project: New Hotel, Cafe and Supermarket

Size: 3,350 m²

Location: London, Redbridge

Client: DSJ Homes Ltd

Construction Cost: £8.2 m

The style of the building is modern but acknowledges the varying quality of the buildings on the High Street.

At street level the elevation is almost entirely glazed and the adjoining lines of the shop front, capitals and signage and fascia are reflected in the proportions used for the frontage. A distinctive canopy marks the entrance and turns around the corner along the station platform.

A large-scale sign completes the sense of arrival to Seven Kings. The likely name of “Seven Kings Hotel” was considered as it replicated the previous hotel of the same name, which used to stand further along the High Road before it disappeared from the maps after WWII. The Hotel is now a branch of  the Ibis Styles brand.

Previously  the site of the Joker Pub, next to Seven Kings Station, this prominently located hotel building overlooks the Crossrail Station and provides a local marker to complement the setting of the station. Developed over 6 storeys, the 95 bedroom purpose-build hotel achieves an Excellent BREEAM rating.

Completed, 2020. The Hotel opens in 2021.
