Set within Brixton Conservation Area, the site is overlooked by a hostel and bonded by the rear courtyard of adjacent mansion blocks.
A single storey podium accommodates the commercial units and the communal parts of the residential block. This element helps defining the boundary treatment, and deal positively with the challenges posed by each neighbour property. Both street frontages are thus active.
The upper volumes are set in line with the Coldharbour Lane frontage of Clifton Mansions. The depth, bulk and massing is refined in relation to Daylight & Sunlight considerations.
